New products for Spring!

March 31, 2011

Just in time for spring, we’re introducing a new product to show off either your family portrait or wedding photographs from Jay.  These new mini-accordion books are available in two different sizes, either 3×3 square, or a 2×3 wallet size.  Both sizes are available in a variety of cover options, including leathers, fabrics, metallic finishes, and an assortment of colors.  These pocket/purse sized mini books make very affordable gifts for parents, grandparents, or bridal party attendants.

Here’s where it gets even better.  Normally these mini books are priced at $65 each.  But for a limited time we’re offering these books on a buy 1, get one free basis*!  So if Jay has photographed your family or wedding in the past, take advantage of this offer!  Call Jay at 847-494-1068 or send an email to Jay@jacphoto.net to design and order your books.  Or, if you haven’t had Jay photograph your family….wouldn’t this the perfect gift for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day?

*all ordered mini books must be exact copies to qualify for offer

Friday Fun

March 18, 2011

Not a whole lot to post today, but I wanted to throw up this short clip that’s part of a continuing long term project that I’m working on……..

See The Difference

March 11, 2011

I’m a member of the PPA (Professional Photographers of America) and they recently released a video suggesting why you should hire a professional photographer for your families biggest moments, vs hiring a friend or amateur who happens to have a really nice camera.

0 See The Difference

A couple of days ago I posted the “trailer” for our Disney vacation home movie.  Well here’s the so called “feature length” presentation!  I don’t consider myself a videographer at all.  In fact the only reason I even screw around with this stuff is because the DSLR’s all have the ability to record high definition video, and vacations and my kids give me a an excuse to play around with the camera.  Combine that with the super easy to use editing functions of iMovie and voila!  Instant home movies!

I’m Thankful For…..

blogversion Im Thankful For.....

With one more day to go before 2010 is history, I wanted to say “thanks” to some of the various business partners who help make my life easier throughout the year.  If you’re a photographer and looking for some new vendor options, definitely consider hooking up with one of these companies

Colorinc

There are lots of labs and printers out there, but I choose to work primarily with Colorinc out of Grandville, Mi.  I’ve never had a problem with a print, and they offer a large product lineup combined with a highly personal level of customer service.

Pixel 2 Canvas

I use Pixel 2 Canvas for all of my canvas printing. The great thing about P2C is the experience is similar to working with a custom printmaker for every piece that I send them.  It’s not uncommon for them to find a small irregularity in an image and take care of it for me, and every piece comes back printed and stretched perfectly.

Frame Destination

Frame Destination provides all of the mats and mount boards, along with some of the frames that I use for my portrait products.  Fast shipping and turnaround, along with the ability to custom cut a mat or frame to just about any conceivable size make them my first choice in this department.

TF Camera Repair

My boy Toshio at TF Camera Repair takes care of keeping my tools of the trade functioning perfectly.  I think he used to be an employee of Canon before setting out on his own, and it shows because I actually get better service from him than if I sent my stuff directly to Canon for service!

Radio Popper

I use Radio Popper for all of my off camera flash triggering.  You can search through some of the previous posts to see before/after examples of what you can accomplish by getting your flash off of the camera in order to create a more directional quality to the light.

Apple

With the exception of one Windows laptop that I need for Quickbooks, I’m pretty much an Apple shop when it comes to the IT infrastructure of my business.

Brown, Kaplan & Liss

The accounting firm that does my taxes.  If you’re a business owner looking for a new CPA to handle your books, give Jim Pepa a call.  They work with a lot of small, single shareholder corporations like myself, and completely remove the worry of having to file quarterly returns, or my annual business or personal returns.

Canon

Professionally, I’ve been a Canon user since 1995.  Enough said.

….and all through the house, a pixel was being processed, not even with the mouse……

While Santa is busy gassing up the sleigh for his annual road trip, this picture taking elf  can proudly say that all albums and portrait orders are out and delivered, which means I have a clean desk heading into the Christmas holiday weekend!

2010 Brides!

December 22, 2010

A few days back I posted my slideshow of highlights from the 2010 season.   However at every wedding it’s the brides who are the main focus of the event.  So like last year I wanted to say a huge “Thanks” to the 2010 Brides who allowed me the privilege  of photographing their wedding day.  You never forget your wedding day, and this is my way of saying I’ll never forget the 30 wonderful women who opened up their family, friends, emotions and relationships to me and my camera on their wedding day.

2010 Year in Review

December 16, 2010

As 2010 draws to a close, the days go by getting ready for holiday parties, shopping for gifts, filling last minute holiday card, print, album orders, and remembering each night to move the “Elf On The Shelf” that Jack is addicted to.  But I also like to take this opportunity to look back on the wedding season and remember all of the fantastic brides and grooms who allowed me to photograph the biggest day of their lives.

Congratulations to all of JCP’s 2010 brides and grooms!  Hope you’re enjoying your first holiday season as married couples!
