2010 Brides!

A few days back I posted my slideshow of highlights from the 2010 season. However at every wedding it’s the brides who are the main focus of the event. So like last year I wanted to say a huge “Thanks” to the 2010 Brides who allowed me the privilege of photographing their wedding day. You never forget your wedding day, and this is my way of saying I’ll never forget the 30 wonderful women who opened up their family, friends, emotions and relationships to me and my camera on their wedding day.

2010 Year in Review

As 2010 draws to a close, the days go by getting ready for holiday parties, shopping for gifts, filling last minute holiday card, print, album orders, and remembering each night to move the “Elf On The Shelf” that Jack is addicted to. But I also like to take this opportunity to look back on the wedding season and remember all of the fantastic brides and grooms who allowed me to photograph the biggest day of their lives.

Congratulations to all of JCP’s 2010 brides and grooms! Hope you’re enjoying your first holiday season as married couples!

Alexandra & Charlie

Alexandra and Charlie were married this past weeken at the incredibly beautiful St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Chicago. What I loved about their ceremony was they decided to celebrate and begin their marriage with a traditional Tridentine Mass, conducted entirely in Latin. I’m not Catholic, and was admittedly unfamiliar with this type of Mass. However despite being a photographer, and always being on the lookout for visual opportunities, what jumped out at me was the amount of music. The use of a full choir, string quartet, along with an organist and soloist was the perfect way to bring the music of Haydn and Mozart to life, creating an understated elegance and grace that fit the Bride & Groom perfectly.

Big thanks to my Associate photographer Jason Kaczorowski for helping me out on this wedding, as well as making this crazy good photograph during the first dance!

DeAnna & Brad – go Huskies!

DeAnna and Brad met while both attending school at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. So what better place to get married than in DeKalb and celebrate with a reception at NIU’s Altgeld Hall.

I thought this was really cool. DeAanna’s brother is an active officer in the US Marine Corps, and could not make it back for her wedding. So DeAnna carried his picture with her all day!

I’ve been fortunate to photograph several Hindu wedding ceremonies and receptions, and I’ve also photographed my fair share of Catholic wedding ceremonies and traditional midwestern receptions. However it’s not that often that I’m able to photograph an event like Kelly & Amol’s wedding where they combined both of their traditions and faiths by celebrating with a traditional catholic ceremony at St. Vincent de De Paul, followed by an Indian Barat and Hindu ceremony at the DoubleTree Esplanade Lakes venue in Downers Grove.

Katie & Chris – the wedding!

Seeing as how hot and humid it’s been this summer, it’s a bit ironic that we did Katie & Chris’ engagement session on a cold winter day back in January. Nevertheless, even though it rained earlier in the day, the skies cleared and made way for another great day of wedding photographs!

And as expected…..yet another couple who’s off to Maui today on their honeymoon…..hopefully they read up on my tips!

Melissa and Chris

The first thing that I saw when I walked into Melissa’s Mom’s house at the beginning of the wedding day was this picture of Melissa as the flower girl at her Uncle’s wedding. There’s a bit more to the story, but more on that later……..

Melissa’s father passed away several years ago, and it was her uncle who walked her down the aisle. Her uncle also filled in for her father in the traditional Father-Daughter first dance. The little girl who once walked down the aisle in front of her uncle on his wedding day, was now walking down the aisle WITH her uncle on her own wedding day.
